BACCN CPD Accreditation Scheme - evidenced professional development

The Scheme

BACCN has a long established and respected scheme for Continuing Professional Development (CPD) accreditation. This has proved very popular with BACCN Regions applying for BACCN CPD accreditation for their study events, and also with external commercial organisation. CPD participatory learning hours are also awarded for attendance at the national conference.

The award of CPD Participatory Learning Hours provides critical care nurses with tangible evidence of their CPD activities. The Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC)  state that every nurse must undertake at least 35 hours of learning activity in 3 years. Many nurses attend study events but receive no evidence of the quality and quantity of the event. By awarding BACCN CPD Participatory Learning Hours (on application) for regional events, nurses are able to accumulate accredited learning to evidence the number of hours set out by the NMC. The BACCN CPD Participatory Learning Hours also provide evidence that nurses attended a quality event approved by the leading national organisation for critical care nurses.

How to Apply for Accreditation

BACCN encourages organisations to apply for CPD points as this will provide an added quality assurance factor to their event or short course.
