European Survey of Critical Care Nurses' Grief, Anxiety, and their Perception on Preparedness and Ability to Care for Dying Patients (EU-GAP)
10th Sep 2026

Calling ICU Nurses Across the UK!
Are you a critical care nurse working in an adult intensive care setting? We invite you to participate in an important international research study exploring critical care nurses' experiences of grief, anxiety, and preparedness when caring for dying patients and their families.
Critical care nurses routinely provide end-of-life care in challenging and emotionally demanding circumstances. This study seeks to better understand the emotional impact of patient deaths, nurses' confidence and preparedness in providing end-of-life care, and the support systems available within critical care environments. Findings will help inform future education, wellbeing initiatives, and workforce support strategies across Europe.
Participation involves completing a brief, anonymous online survey. All responses are confidential, and no identifiable personal information will be collected.
