Trish McCready

Patricia McCready is a highly experienced Senior Critical Care Nurse with over 23 years of clinical practice across intensive care, retrieval, and pre-hospital environments. She currently works as a Senior Sister in Adult Critical Care at Barts Health NHS Trust, Europe’s largest cardiac centre, where she provides clinical and professional leadership across complex cardiac, oncology, and haematology services. Her work has a strong focus on staff development, quality improvement, sustainability, and organ donation.

Patricia has extensive experience in flight nursing, delivering national and international medical repatriations and caring for critically unwell patients in time-critical and challenging environments. She is an active member of the UK Emergency Medical Team (UKEMT) and has deployed internationally with the International Medical Corps, the Harvard Humanitarian Initiative, and UK-Med, contributing to humanitarian responses in austere and high-pressure settings.

She holds a BSc in Acute Clinical Practice and a Diploma in Tropical Nursing. As Financial Director on the BACCN National Board, Patricia is committed to advancing critical care nursing, supporting workforce development, and strengthening national and international collaboration within the specialty.
