Major incidents challenge every part of the hospital, but nowhere do they have a more immediate—and more intense—impact than the Emergency Department and Intensive Care Unit. This interactive study day is designed specifically for ED and ICU nurses who want to strengthen their confidence, leadership, and decision‑making skills when the unthinkable happens.
Using a realistic, mixed adult‑and‑paediatric bus‑crash scenario, we will work through the critical early actions that determine patient outcomes: rapid triage, surge creation, prioritisation under pressure, critical‑care escalation, and inter‑departmental coordination. Whether you are new to major incident planning or already experienced, this tabletop exercise offers a safe, supportive environment to test your skills, explore best practices, and prepare for the challenges unique to high‑acuity, high‑volume events.
