This espresso teaching session will focus on the topic of sedation to help new nurses achieve their Steps competency books and provide a refresher for experienced nurses on the latest research about sedation practices in intensive care.
Learning outcomes:
- To critically discuss sedation scoring
- To explore strategies for administering sedation
- To differentiate different types of sedation used for critically ill patients and their effects
- To define spontaneous awakening trial and explain relevance within ABCDEF care bundle
