Making #BACCNconf accessible for all

20th Mar 2018

The Conference Team alongside the BACCN Board are very conscious of the significant financial pressures all units / individuals are under.  The Conference Team strives to deliver a high class, evidence based, topical and relevant conference year on year that not only delivers on the academic side but also on the social interaction we enjoy as critical care practitioners.

As a non profit organisation we work very closely with our industrial partners to make this as economically affordable for all our delegates, and through this we've managed to avoid increasing our delegate fees since 2015.

Looking at initiatives to enable delegates attending conference there are several options available which are being advertised in the journal, on the website, social media and via direct email to all BACCN Members:

1] BACCN Conference Volunteers (open to BACCN Committee members) http://www.baccnconference.org.uk/files/6815/1195/5998/BACCN_Conference_Volunteer_Opportunity_2018.pdf

2] BACCN QI Dragon's Den http://www.baccn.org/index.php/events-awards1/dragons/ this is aimed at quality improvement /innovation projects

3] BACCN Research Dragon's Den http://www.baccn.org/index.php/events-awards1/dragons-2/ this is aimed particularly to encourage nursing research

4] BACCN Grants and Scholarships http://www.baccn.org/index.php/events-awards1/grants-scholarships/ this is open all year round and can provide scholarship money to attend conference

5] BACCN Conference / SAGE Partners in Prevention Scholarship

http://www.baccnconference.org.uk/index.php/abstracts/. This allows five delegates to attend conference for free, including their travel and accommodation.

6] BACCN Committee members can attend conference at super early bird rates regardless of when places are booked

7] Many BACCN Regional Committees offer a free conference place as a prize during regional events every year

8] Delegates can apply to pay their fees in instalments in order to spread the cost more evenly throughout the year http://www.baccnconference.org.uk/index.php/book-your-place-2/

9] The conference team aims to work closely with the local tourism bureau every year to try and maximise affordable travel and accommodation available to delegates.
