Sepsis Research Priorities: Phase 2 Now Live

25th Mar 2024

Please see below information about the progress of Phase 1, and an invitation to participate in Phase 2 from Sepsis Research FEAT - James Lind Alliance

"When Sepsis Research FEAT and the James Lind Alliance published its first sepsis priority setting partnership (PSP) survey on World Sepsis Day last year we had no idea that we would see the response we did.

A staggering 718 respondents posed 950 questions relating to sepsis and its treatment that they really wanted the answers to. It is clear that sepsis is of huge importance to the general public, carers and clinicians.

A massive thank you to you and your colleagues at the British Association of Critical Care Nurses for your support in making phase 1 of the PSP as successful as it was.

Phase 2 is now live. And this stage matters even more than the first.

Having gone through the 950 answers in fine detail we now have a list of 54 questions to filter down to a final top 10 of research priorities. We are so nearly there.

We would like to encourage as many patients, carers and healthcare professionals as possible to prioritise those 54 questions – an exercise that takes around 12 minutes to complete.

This process is essential to ensuring that underrepresented voices are heard and resources are channelled towards the issues that will genuinely benefit sepsis patients in the future.

We would be very grateful indeed for your help in sharing the survey with your members so that they can have their say in this hugely important research initiative.

The survey and further information can be found here"
