ESICM survey on ICU resilience, stress and preparedness - share your experience

10th Feb 2026

Dear colleague,

Over recent years, intensive care teams across Europe have faced sustained pressure, uncertainty and rapid change. These experiences have highlighted both resilience and areas where additional support is needed.

ESICM is launching a short survey on ICU resilience, stress and preparedness to better understand how professionals experience high-stress situations, how teams adapt, and where ESICM can provide relevant support.

The survey takes around 5 minutes to complete and is open to all ICU professionals.
Deadline extended: Saturday, 28 February, 23:55 CET.

Your input is essential. In addition, we kindly ask you to share this survey with colleagues within your ICU and professional network, including different professional categories such as physicians, nurses, pharmacists, psychologists and others involved in intensive care. Broad participation will allow us to capture a more complete and balanced view across teams and settings.

The results will help guide future ESICM initiatives related to preparedness, education and support, based on the perspectives of members across countries and disciplines.

Participation is entirely voluntary, and responses will be treated confidentially.

Thank you in advance for your time and for helping us reach colleagues across the intensive care community.

Kind regards,

Jan De Waele
President, ESICM
